Insights into Functional Training (L)
Chuck Wolf

Session: 303
Language: English

The Functional Revolution has expanded the mindset of the personal training world but also caused considerable controversy as to what, how, when, and why to use functional training. Clients released from rehabilitation into the fitness/sports performance “functional” environment are often progressed too quickly and do not have the foundational movement “big rocks” that need to be restored. Learn cutting-edge, easy to use assessment techniques to screen how your client moves, and to create strategies for a truly personalized training program. Develop a regressive approach to common movements and progressive the client with strategies to allow a progressive, dynamic movement pattern allowing the client to return to play. Additionally, understand criteria to determine when a client is ready to return to competitive environments. This pre-con seminar will explore the criteria that make a program a functional training program and how to blend the traditional exercises with functional movement patterns.
Expected Learning Outcomes
  • Define the functional characteristics of human motion
  • Understand the functional anatomy of the foot, lower extremity, hip, and spine
  • Develop movement assessment skills for the foot, lower extremity, hip, spine, and shoulder
  • Create an exercise program based upon the results of the assessment to assist in the corrective exercise
  • Appreciate strategies implementing the 6 Flexibility Highways: the Anterior, Posterior, Lateral, the X-Factors, and the “Turnpike”
  • Create strategies of the “how, when, what, and why” to blend traditional exercises with functional integrated movement patterns
  • Reduce risk of injury by understanding the chain reaction of movement and learn important trends that may precipitate an injury risk
  • Develop strategies to regress than progress your clients for improved movement from the “Big Movement Rocks”

Session: 2001

We’ve spoken with dozens of fitness professionals and business owners all over the world and heard ONE thing over and over again: You cannot grow your fitness business unless you’re driving in more new clients, sales, and profits … quickly!

This why we’ve developed a head-down workshop that will get you ready to crush your sales and marketing goals for the next 12 months.

We’ll walk you through an audit of your existing sales and marketing. Based on the audit, together we’ll find quick wins that won’t cost you a lot (or anything) and will add up to a big
impact.

Then you’ll brainstorm and work with others to share ideas and create solutions, and you’ll leave with greater clarity on what you need to do to have consistent lead flow and sales.

Next, we’ll turn to your sales and marketing pipeline. You’ll go through a guided self-audit, with an eye on quick wins. You’ll walk away with standards of performance for your sales pipeline and a basic tracking system to measure pipeline performance, so you’ll be ready to put your attention where it’s most needed.

Finally, we’ll wrap up with working on a 90-day plan so you’ll be ready to implement your action plan as soon as you get home.
