Chair Fitness Part 1 – Cardio & The Core

They say sitting can be hazardous to your health. Well, not always! Exercising in – or with – a chair can be both fun and effective. The chair is an apparatus that can be used as a prop to assist and enhance exercises for all the major muscle groups. In part 1 of this workshop we’ll examine cardio fitness and core strength training and put into practice heart-pumping segments of choreography with modifications for all groups. We’ll use easy and accessible equipment, like towels and Bender balls, to create exercises that target the core. Come out and feel energized exercising in a chair.

Falls Prevention & Balance Training

Hot Booty Ballet Teacher Training Level 1

Hot Booty Ballet is just that. It’s HOT!! The Dynamic Fitness Program is based on traditional ballet conditioning exercises, core strengthening & resistance training performed in a heated room or not. The class is designed to shape, sculpt, stretch and tone your entire body. Hot Booty Ballet utilizes mini-bands, body weight and light weights to perform multiple high reps of small isolated movements in order to sculpt muscles without adding bulk.

The Hot Booty Ballet Course provides the framework for Instructors, enabling them to create fun, safe, effective training programs for there classes & participants. The Course presents over 100 hot booty ballet signature moves & segments created by Professional Dancer & Master Fitness Trainer Suaad Ghadban. Each routine is accompanied by timed selections of music – that serve as the template for each session or class and produce a balanced and complete Hot Booty Ballet workout.

These sessions focus on Booty Exercise & Progressions, Movement form and Efficiency, and the importance of cueing with music for a quality class. Hot Booty Ballet Level 1 provides instructors with pre-choreographed workouts specifically designed to address a specific aspect of fitness training or to suit a particular target group. Additional concepts are explored: including the value of cardio-based intervals within a program, suggestions on themes and training programs.

**This course is intended for those who are already working in the fields of fitness or movement (personal training or strength conditioning & dance) or someone with an interest in developing these skills. There are no prerequisites.**

Motivational Interviewing: The Proven Couseling Method to Help Clients Overcome Barriers To Success

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a client focused counseling and communication skill which has been successfully used by personal trainers to encourage clients to make positive behaviour changes, develop self-discipline, break bad habits and overcome barriers to achievement.

MI has been shown through many of years of clinical research to be especially successful with clients who are ambivalent about making a change, who have regressed in their progress or have hit a stumbling block on their path to success. In this workshop, I will be teaching trainers the techniques to become a skilled and confident Motivational Interviewer through practical focused interactive role-playing. Also included in the workshop will be a discussion on how to use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques to complement Motivational Interviewing skills.

Thai Yoga Stretching for Exercise Professionals Part 2

Building on concepts and techniques learned in Part 1, this session will focus more on mobility and function than flexibility alone. We’ll refine previously learned skills, explore them in greater depth, and incorporate elements of massage into Thai stretching sessions. CANCELLATION

All Academy cancellations must be received in writing toconferences@canfitpro.com. Cancellations received more than 60 days prior to the published start date of the event will not incur a cancellation penalty. Cancellations received between 60 and five (5) days prior to the published start date of the event will be charged an administration fee of 15% of the total conference registration fee (plus applicable taxes). No refunds will be issued for cancellations received less than five days prior to the published start date of the event. No refunds or credits will be given for no-shows, partially used registrations, on-site registrations or membership fees.

HANDOUTS

Academy session handouts will be available online one (1) week prior and 30 days after the conference. Handouts will be listed by session number and name, and will be subject to availability (as submitted by presenter). Please remember to print your session handouts and bring them on-site or view them on your tablet or smart phone.

EQUIPMENT

Without the equipment provided by our sponsors, the variety of sessions available to you would be limited. Please help us ensure the integrity of our conference and our relationship with our sponsors by respecting their property. Theft costs everyone. If you are found taking equipment that does not belong to you, you will be removed from the Academy and your canfitpro membership and certification(s) will be revoked.

CHILDREN AND BABIES

For the safety and consideration of all concerned, particularly your child’s, children and babies are not allowed into the Academy events at any time. This includes babies in strollers. This is also necessary to maintain the educational atmosphere of the sessions.

PHOTOGRAPHY, VIDEO, AND AUDIO TAPING

Photography, video, and audio taping are not permitted in any session. Delegates found violating this rule will be expelled from the session without refund.

FRAGRANCE-FREE

While we recognize that deodorant is necessary (especially after an intense workout!), please limit the use of scented products.

Suaad Ghadban

She is a leading fitness and health expert. She is well-known for her personal and unique approach to fitness that draws its inspiration from her extensive background in dance, gymnastics and circus training. Suaad is a former World Dance and Sports Aerobic Champion, and she holds a College degree in Sports and Leisure and a B.A. & Sc. in Therapeutic recreation. With 15 years of teaching experience and 22 years of training under her belt, Suaad has created a very fun, effective ballet inspired booty program called Hot Booty Ballet.

Jill Hewlett

Jill Hewlett is a nationally recognized Speaker, Author, TV Wellness Authority and Brain Fitness Expert. She has the skillful capacity to draw out the natural leadership in individuals and organizations to support them in reducing stress and achieving greater levels of efficiency, balance and success.

A freelance writer and public speaker with Toastmaster’s International, he currently works as an independent personal trainer specializing in senior fitness, low back rehab, and fitness for chronic disease management and prevention

Ona McDonald

Ona is presently involved in healthy, active living pursuits both in the fitness industry and in the educational system. She has been in the fitness industry for over 30 years and is presently a PRO Trainer for Can-Fit-Pro in four disciplines. She currently works with the Toronto District School Board as a consultant in health and physical education and with Ontario Physical and Health Education Association as a Master Trainer for teachers

Stephen de Wit

A board-certified sexologist, Stephen started as a sexual health counsellor and now travels internationally speaking about sexual empowerment. As an educator, coach, and consultant, he believes that people should live a sexually empowered life free from guilt, shame, and fear. Stephen is featured regularly in national newspapers and on TV providing relevant, thought-provoking sex education and information, helping people take an honest look at their sex lives and transform what isn’t working.
