Why attend a canfitpro event?

canfitpro has the world’s best events for fitness professionals. Combining great opportunities to obtain continuing education with networking and world-class trade shows, these are events you do not want to miss!

Whether you are picking up CECs for recertification, attending to upgrade your education or just to catch up with old friends,canfitpro events have something for everyone, all at affordable prices.

What does the term “delegate” mean?

A delegate is someone who is registered for the event.

How much does the event cost?

Event rates are priced based on member and non-member rates. As a benefit to being a canfitpro member, the member rate is a lower cost. Each event includes registration fees applicable to the size of the event. Please refer to the registration details of the particular event you’re interested in attending, to view the rates.

How much are the intensive workshops?

Intensive workshops are priced based on membership status (member/non-member) and the length of the intensive workshop. Prices are listed with the descriptions of each intensive workshop available at each event in the brochure and online.

How do I register for an event?

Registration can be done in any one of the following ways:

  • Online: the easiest and quickest way to register!
  • Email: conreg@canfitpro.com - download the registration form, complete it, and email it as an attachment to canfitpro. Please type 'Your Name - Event Name' in the subject line.
  • Fax: 416-493-1756 – fax your registration form with credit card information, session requests, and signed waiver of liability and consent to canfitpro.
  • Mail: Send your registration form along with payment (no CODs) to:

  • By phone*: 416-493-3515 or toll free 1-800-667-5622 - Monday to Friday 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Pay for your registration by phone then send in your session requests and signed waiver of liability and consent within seven (7) business days by fax or email.

*Registering by phone will guarantee you the current rate, and reserves you a space at the event, not in sessions.

I don’t have a fax machine, how can I submit my session requests?

Fax machines are available at printing stores, or you can download the registration form from the website and scan it and email it to canfitpro at conreg@canfitpro.com, or you can download the registration form and mail it to canfitpro.

When will I receive a confirmation of the sessions I'm registered for?

canfitpro will email you a copy of the sessions you are registered for within five (5) business days of receiving your registration. If you do not receive a confirmation within this time, please contact canfitpro.

How and when do I get a receipt?

canfitpro will email a receipt to you, along with session confirmation, within five (5) business days of receiving your registration. If you do not receive your receipt within this time, please contact canfitpro.

Do I have to be certified to attend an event?

No, we welcome all fitness enthusiasts to our events. The diverse curriculum available at each event tailors to the needs of fitness professionals and fitness enthusiasts.

Do I have to be a canfitpro member to attend an event?

We welcome all participants. canfitpro members enjoy the low member rates. If you are not a member, canfitpro offers a special non-member rate.

Will I receive Continuing Education Credits (CECs) for attending an event?

If you are canfitpro certified, you will receive CECs for attending the event. All canfitpro CECs are listed in the session descriptions included in the brochure and online. For CECs from organizations not listed, please contact your certification agency to inquire about petitioning for credit recognition.

How do I find out more about volunteering?

None of our events would be successful without the help of our volunteers! We welcome you if:

  • you are 18 years of age or older, enthusiastic, friendly and ready to lend a hand
  • you want to attend the evnet and earn CECs for free while experiencing the event from 'behind the scenes', plus receive a free T-shirt

Become a volunteer by filling out the volunteer application found on the event page. Email or fax in your application and enjoy the benefits of volunteering at a canfitpro event!

What do I do if I don't get into my first choice of session requests?

Sessions are assigned on a first come first processed basis, based on the date your complete registration is received. Please ensure you fill out session requests for each time slot providing more than one request to ensure you are registered for the session of your choice. If all session requests are full, you will be assigned a 'stand-by' status and will be admitted to the session after the pre-registered delegates.

What does stand-by mean?

If all session requests are full a “Stand-By” status will be assigned, which allows a delegate to attend any session during that time slot on a space-available basis. The delegate will be admitted to the session after the pre-registered delegates have entered. While we almost always have extra space for stand-by delegates, the session equipment may not be available.

What do I do if I would like to change a session after I have already registered?

Please select your sessions carefully. If you would like to change or add a session after registering a change fee of $5 per session will apply (up to a max of $25 for five or more changes). Please note, this applies during the pre-registration period only. The fee does not apply to on-site changes done on a stand-by basis.

What do I do if I registered and now I am unable to attend the evnet for unforeseen reasons?

All event cancellations must be received in writing to conferences@canfitpro.com. Cancellations received more than 60 days prior to the published start date of the event will not incur a cancellation penalty.

Cancellations received between 60 and five (5) days prior to the published start date of the event will be charged an administration fee of 15% of the total conference registration fee (plus applicable taxes).

No refunds will be issued for cancellations received less than five (5) days prior to the published start date of the event.

No refunds or credits will be given for no-shows, partially used registrations, on-site registrations or membership fees.

Can I attend the event one day and then let my friend attend the next day?

It is not permissible to split a registration between two people. Delegates found violating this rule will be expelled from the event without refund.

I live out of town, is there a special rate for delegates at a nearby hotel?

In most cities, hotel space has been booked for canfitpro event delegates. Please see the event details for more information on rates and location.

What do I do when I get on-site?

When you arrive at the event venue, please visit the registration desk to pick up your delegate kit. You must pick up your delegate kit prior to attending sessions. Your name badge and wristband will be given to you upon arrival at the registration desk which is required to be admitted into sessions.

Are there handouts available for the sessions I am attending?

Yes! Handouts are available online one (1) week prior and 30 days after the event. Please note, handouts are subject to availability based on submission by the presenter. You will receive an email from canfitpro outlining the details to obtain the handouts prior to the event. Please remember to print your handouts and bring them with you, or view them using your tablet or smart phone.

What does BYOM mean?

BYOM simply means, Bring Your Own Mat. If you are attending any yoga or pilates sessions, or any sessions which include the BYOM symbol within the description, please ensure you bring a mat with you. Mats are not available on-site.

Volunteer FAQs

How old do I need to be to become a volunteer?

You must be18 years of age or older on the day of your first shift in order to volunteer.

Do I need to be a canfitpro member to volunteer?

No

Do I need references to volunteer?

No

Do I need to have previous volunteer experience?

You do not need to have any volunteer or fitness experience in order to volunteer at any of our events.

How do I become a volunteer?

Event volunteer applications are available on our website on each event page once the event has opened for registration.

What are the canfitpro volunteer benefits?

  • FREE one-year Professional Membership to canfitpro ($89 value; not to exceed 24 months; includes all canfitpro Professional Membership benefits with the exception of printed copies of the canfitpro Magazine. You will receive electronic versions for the duration of the complimentary membership)
  • FREE volunteer t-shirt
  • FREE admittance to sessions on a Stand-By basis when NOT on shift
  • FREE admission to the Keynote Presentation (if not on shift during that time)
  • Earn canfitpro Continuing Education Credits (CECs) (when you are not on shift – if available)
  • Experience the events from behind the scenes
  • Networking opportunities to work and learn with other fitness enthusiasts, just like you!
  • Reference letter (given upon request)

What sort of volunteer roles are available?

Volunteer roles differ at each event. A detailed outline of volunteer roles can be found on each event volunteer application form.

What is the time commitment for volunteering?

Each event has different time requirements. These requirements are listed on the event volunteer application.

What are the requirements for volunteering?

  • Team players who can work with minimal supervision.
  • Complete all shifts based on the schedule provided.
  • Friendly, enthusiastic and takes initiative.

Is there a deadline to apply for Volunteer Roles?

Yes, the deadline is typically 2 weeks prior to the event. Please refer to the event volunteer application for deadlines.

What is the dress code for Volunteering?

You will be provided with a volunteer t-shirt when you sign in to pick up you volunteer kit. Please wear dark bottoms and closed toed shoes. Please refrain from wearing short shorts.

Can I request to schedule my shift with a friend?

Yes, you can request to work a shift with a friend. While we do try to accommodate all requests we do not guarantee this.

Can I eat while I am on shift?

Yes. Stay energized and hydrated during our events! We suggest to bring your own food and beverage for your convenience and to avoid potentially time consuming line-ups and possibly high food and beverage prices. Please be sensitive with food smells, allergies and noise while eating your food during your shift.

If I am a Room Monitor, can I pre-select the sessions I will be monitoring?

No. All room allocations will be made when you arrive for your Room Monitor shift.

Can I actively participate in sessions while I am volunteering if I am a Room Monitor?

No. While you are on shift, your role is to assist the Presenters, Delegates and AV Staff. Please do not actively participate in any session while you are on shift.

Can I leave my shift early to attend a session that starts before my shift is over?

No. In order to qualify for your volunteer benefits, you must fulfill your shift obligation which includes working the entire time frame of your shift.

How can I attend sessions?

A major benefit of volunteering for a canfitpro event is the free access to educational workshops. As a volunteer you will be on Stand-By for all sessions you would like to attend while not on shift. Please ensure that when you attend a session, the delegate barcode on your name badge is scanned so that you will be awarded CECs for your attendance to that session. You cannot attend sessions nor are you eligible for CECs while you are on shift. Volunteers can register for any Intensive workshops at the lowest Member Delegate rate, under the assumption that you fulfill your volunteer commitment.

How do I earn CECs?

As a volunteer you can attend sessions ONLY when you are not on shift. If you are canfitpro certified, you require 4 CECs to maintain your yearly canfitpro certification(s). It is up to you to ensure that you obtain the right number of CECs to recertify.

How can I earn CECs if I do not get enough through Volunteering?

If you do not get all of your CECs through volunteering, click here to investigate other options.

Can I earn CECs if I do not have a current completed canfitpro certification?

CECs can only be earned if you have fully completed your canfitpro certification. If you do not have canfitpro certifications, you can receive a certificate of completion for the sessions you attended. Member CECs and Certifications of Completion can be found by logging into your canfitpro INTERACTIVE account.

Can I change my shift once it is been assigned?

Providing there are open volunteer roles available, we may be able to change your assigned shift. Please make all requests prior to two weeks before the event date.

Can I still volunteer after the application deadline?

If all roles are full, there will be a note on the event volunteer website. You can show up onsite to sign up for a role. Please note – if you sign up on site, you may not be eligible for all of the volunteer benefits.

How do I cancel my volunteer shifts if I can no longer attend?

If you need to cancel your shift(s), please do so 2 weeks prior to the event so that we can schedule someone else in your role. Please notify us at volunteers@canfitpro.com.

What happens if I do not show up, or cancel my shift last minute?

You will not be eligible for any volunteer benefits and a comment regarding your absence/cancellation will be placed on your file for future reference.

If I have concerns about my volunteer experience, who can I speak to?

If you are onsite, please connect with the Volunteer Coordinator who is on staff. Alternately, you can send an email tovolunteers@canfitpro.com if you have any concerns that need to be addressed.
